Participates in the design, planning and management of the information systems architecture to support the business needs and goals of GeoVera Holdings, Inc. Under the direction of the Sr. Solutions Architect and/or IT management designs, creates, communicates and maintains architectural diagrams. Participates in the definition of technical standards for all information technology systems and infrastructure as requested. Ensures conformance of system designs to defined architecture standards and models. Provides technical direction and advice to all Information Technology staff as requested. Works with all business and technical staff, typically within cross-functional teams, and interacts with external vendors.

Essential Functions

  • Working with the Sr. Solutions Architect and others, assist with:
    • The technical design, architecture, and company-wide integration of systems and applications.
    • Company architectural decisions and the establishment of standards. Ensures balance between emerging technology and pragmatism for business needs.
  • Work with the Sr. Solutions Architect, technical managers and executive management to plan system activities, prioritize work, assess and assign appropriate staffing to accomplish plans.
  • Under the direction of the Sr. Solutions Architect and IT leadership, ensure:
    • All technical staff is aware of architecture strategy and standards by documentation and in-house training.
    • Conformance to standards and strategies by review of major changes and development introduced into the Production, Demo, Development, and Test environments.
    • Proper protection of corporate data assets by full compliance with security and auditability of corporate standards. Build availability, scalability, performance, and recoverability into systems regardless of technology used.
  • Assist technical staff in identifying, investigating, and resolving any systems issues as expediently as possible.
  • Participate:
    • On teams working major enhancements, changes and/or implementing new systems, to ensure conformance to standards and our overall architecture.
    • In the development, maintenance, and testing of overall corporate Business Resumption Planning including Systems Recovery Plans.
    • In new-hire onboarding for new technical staff as assigned.
  • Stay current with all aspects of legacy, state-of-the-art, and emerging hardware, languages, telecommunications, database management systems, and process methodologies.

Recommend new and emerging technologies. This includes pursuit of continued improvements in the methods and tools used to develop and maintain information systems and to ensure the reliability, quality and cost-effectiveness of the current portfolio of information systems.

Performs other related duties as required and assists with special projects.

Minimum Requirements

Education, training, and experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field, and/or equivalent combination of High School Diploma/GED, training and work experience, with courses/background in information systems, computer programming and systems/infrastructure architecture.
  • Five to seven years’ experience in the Information Technology field with one year or more focused on technology architecture.
  • Cloud applications and/or architecture experience preferred.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Must possess strong technical knowledge of systems/applications architecture and development and the inter-relationship of company information systems
  • Demonstrated ability and experience
    • Building architecture diagrams and road maps 
    • Designing, integrating and managing complex technology solutions.
    • With business process design.
  • Excellent problem resolution and decision making abilities.
  • Exceptional collaboration, communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work well with all levels of technical knowledge and to mentor others.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills.
  • Effective presentation skills and ability to present to all levels of management and co-workers.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks with accuracy, able to prioritize effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Team player willing to work in an environment where individual initiative and accountability are required.
