  • Summary

    Supervises the operation of the policy processing and/or support services staff. Responsible for successful completion of all policy processing and support services functions in accordance with established business practice, policies and procedures. Ability to not only adapt to change, but develop new ideas and approaches aimed at better understanding processing issues and more effectively meet customer needs.


    Essential Functions

    • Supervise and assist policy processing personnel in the performance of general operational services. Assigns, supervises, and reviews the work of Operations Technicians engaged in the processing of various requests and duties.
    • Participate in the development, implementation, and maintenance of a quality control program for processing functions. Ensures the work of employees is reviewed for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
    • Continually monitors work loads and adjusts priorities and work assignments as needed.  
    • Supervises the operations processing staff which may include staff recommendations, training and development, coaching and counseling activities. Completion of performance reviews and may make salary recommendations for management approval.
    • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve operational problems that fall within and outside of established procedures.
    • Develop support services standards in collaboration with the Operations Manager. Utilize management tools (i.e. SharePoint) to monitor services, calculate performance statics and provide management reports
    • Identify areas for improvement, prioritize and execute changes and manage the continual improvement process.
    • Act as the operations policy processing expert in the execution of department initiatives. Provide input and recommendations to improve the overall effectiveness and efficiency of organizational activities. Implement and oversee work standards ensuring operations are effective and efficient, and applicable policies and procedures are followed. Establish and implement unique procedures, work flow processes and special handling for alternative distribution channels. Responds to changes in product and administrative policies.
    • Collaborate with Operations manager, other departments. to determine appropriate courses of action on process.
    • Works closely with other departments to support company projects/initiatives.

    Additional Responsibilities

    •  Performs other related duties as required and assists with special projects.

    Minimum Requirements

    Education, training, and experience:

    • Bachelors Degree preferred and/or equivalent combination of High School Diploma/GED, training and work experience.

    • 2 - 5 years in a supervisor role preferably in an insurance related position.

    Knowledge, skills, and abilities: 

    • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
    • Demonstrated intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and deal with changing priorities.
    • Insurance processing environment experience preferred.
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks with accuracy, able to prioritize effectively and meet deadlines.
    • Demonstrate thoroughness, attention to detail, and follow-through.
    • Works well with persons at all levels of the organization, customers, and outside vendors.
